Before joining Exum, he earned his Ph.D. in analytical chemistry at Washington State University followed by a staff scientist position at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. There he interfaced with a multidisciplinary team to build some of the highest performing analytical mass spectrometers in the world. Outside of Exum, Nate can be found on the numerous trails along the front range either running or hiking with his wife and three kids.
